Australian federal election 2013
The Australian federal election will be held on Saturday 14 September 2013.
Early (in-person) voting will be offered at the Australian High Commission in Wellington and the Australian Consulate–General in Auckland from Monday 2 September 2013. Election arrangements including voting times will be published on this page closer to the election.
In the meantime, you can find information relating to being overseas at election time on the Australian Electoral Commission’s website: www.aec.gov.au.
HELP for New Zealanders who grow up in Australia
Tertiary Education Minister Craig Emerson has announced that from 1 January 2015, New Zealanders who grow up in Australia will become eligible for the Higher Education Loan Program (HELP) for tertiary education or vocational training. This means thousands of young people who until now had no access to student loans for university study will be able to apply for the assistance. More information is available here.

Getting Help to Apply for a Visa
Avoid fraudulent activities and scams by using the many departmental resources available to help you apply for a visa. These include application forms, booklets, the Visa Wizard, translation and interpreting services and the department's Service Delivery Partners. Immigration assistance can also be provided by community organisations and registered migration agents.

Reminder about validity of passports when travelling to Australia
Australia requires that your passport must be valid only for the period of your intended travel in and out of Australia. There is no requirement for your passport to be valid for six months after your travel.
